Generally you rent a privately owned home directly from the homeowner and have the right to stay in it and use all of the amenities for the duration of your stay.

Why are so many people turning to vacation rentals?

Its cheaper for a start. Because you are renting an entire house, villa, condo, most people share the cost with another couple or family so the cost of the holiday is much less than it would be if booked through a travel agent.

You have more space. Staying in a hotel for a week or two can get very confining. If you go for say luxury villa rentals you can spread yourself out and make yourself much more at home.

You have more privacy. There’s no worrying about the loud couple next door, late night revelers in the hallways or other disturbances.

The amenities are better. You have a nice kitchen where you can cook your meals if you want to, you dont have to eat out everynight, (which can be quite expensive if you are in Paris for example).

You can take your pets along too. Dog Friendly Holidays are hard to find, with a vacation rental its much easier for your whole family to take a break, dog included.

Whats the key to finding a good vacation rental? Look for listings that state they are “vacation rentals by owner.” (Not a rental company.) Owners save the commissions and pass the savings on to you. Also look for Vacation Rentals that list references or testimonials from previous visitors. Then just find the size and location that’s right for you. If you choose a vacation rental for your next vacation, you’ll find yourself going back again and again.
