Golf Vacations - Port Royal Golf Course

By: Matt Keith

When you live where it get's freezing cold... even snows in the winter... like I do, it's impossible to play golf unless you go on a vacation somewhere warm, and that's why I'm gonna spend the next couple months reviewing golf vacations that have open courses year-round.

This week, I'll be reviewing Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda.

Located just 1 hour 40 minutes from New York by plane, Bermuda is a lot closer than you'd probably thought. And with an average temperature of 70 degrees F, rarely dropping below 55 in the winter, this is one destination you could definitely get used to visiting every year! Bring a sweatshirt or a light jacket, though, as it can get a little cool at night in the wintertime.

Owned and operated by the Burmuda Government, the Port Royal Golf Course is ideal for golfers of all skill levels, but can prove to be a real challenge for even the finest from the back tees.

Jack Nicklaus ranked it among the Worlds best public courses, and with the Atlantic Ocean as a water-hazard, this course offers spectacular views hard to be rivaled by any other course in the World. This makes the all-day greens fees of $115 (including cart) in the winter well worth every penny!

A few more facts you should know:

Bermuda's currency is equal to the currency in the US... American money is accepted by all merchants.

New Laws require US citizens to carry a valid passport when traveling to Bermuda. You can get a passport through the US Post Office, allowing up to 6 weeks to be completed.
