Things to do in Dallas

Dallas is the perfect vacation get-away, whether it's just for the weekend or for an extended vacation. Texas is amazing all on its own, but tourist flock to Dallas. Dallas sits on the Trinity River with its many creeks and small tributaries that branch off throughout the city. The many rivers, creeks and streams offer a number of lovely tree-lined walks and parks. You'll enjoy strolls among the oak, cottonwood and pecan trees.

The southwestern United States thrives on the financial and business center that makes up Dallas. There are always conventions for businesses and groups to attend. In fact, Dallas refers to itself as the busiest convention city in North America. If you are spending a night or more, you'll have a variety of hotels to choose from. You can luxuriate in a gorgeous suite, or if you want to save money, you can find excellent budget accommodations. You can stay in the heart of the city or retreat to the quieter suburbs or stay out near the airport.

Dallas may be a big financial city but this doesn’t mean that you won’t find a great amount of culture and art here as well. There are many museums and art galleries that you can visit during your stay in Dallas. One of the more prominent museums that is a must see is the African American Museum that is located at Fair Park. A walk through this museum will keep you busy as you look at the many displays and exhibits, which feature a huge collection of African folk art and contemporary art. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of African American heritage and culture.

Another museum that will keep you occupied if are visiting Dallas with your children is the Dallas Children’s Museum. In this museum you and your children will have a hands-on experience as you play in the many life-like scenarios that include a farm, a hospital, a grocery store, and a firehouse. After you’re done playing you can introduce your children to a few of the cultural displays before heading back out into the busy city of Dallas.

Of course, no trip is complete without doing some shopping. If you love clothes, you will adore the second hand designer clothes created by Armani, Donna Karan and Emanual. Sports lovers will also love Dallas. There are terrific golf courses to challenge you. Later you will dine in one of the many great Dallas restaurants.

Visit Dallas any time of year and you'll keep busy. The blend of big city and southwestern charm are a big draw, and you'll want to come back for more.
