Give your Children a Trip they’ll Never Forget

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a trip that the whole family enjoyed. Selecting a destination can be a balancing act between separate ages and interests, but there are attractions across the country that absolutely everyone will love. It doesn’t have to be expensive either, so bundle the kids into the car and get the family out of the house for some quality time together.

Vindolanda

One of the last archaeologically active locations in the UK, you can watch Roman history unearthed in front of your eyes at Vindolanda. The impressive collection in the on-site museum originated entirely from the ground surrounding these Roman ruins.

For your enjoyment, some living quarters and sections of Hadrian’s Wall have been restored to their former, ancient glory. A fantastic place to sample Roman life as it would’ve been, Vindolanda is a treasure trove of finds. The salvaged writing tablets are one of the most earth-shaking archaeological findings in Europe, and you can read for yourself messages inscribed thousands of years ago.

Warner Brothers Studio Tour – Harry Potter

With more than 450 million books sold worldwide, the Harry Potter series, written by J. K. Rowling was a sensational hit. If there are any wizarding fans in your family, they’ll be in for a real treat at Warner Brothers Studio in London. Here, some of the most jaw-dropping sets from the much-loved films have been recreated, down to the very last wand.

Sip butterbeer while you marvel at the amazing detail of the reconstruction; everything appeared in the actual movies, including: Hogwarts’ Great Hall, Diagon Alley, 4 Privet Drive, the Knight Bus, Hagrid’s motorcycle, Hogwarts’ bridge, and the Philosopher’s Stone. Witness the humungous effort that went into creating the Harry Potter series from artists and producers and relive the magic once again.

The Deep

“The Deep” sounds rather ominous, but there’s nothing to be frightened of. Situated in East Yorkshire, this aquarium explores the waterways of the world, from rivers to the unfathomable oceans. Home to more than 3,500 fish, this award-winning attraction has a tranquil and engaging environment full of giant rays and sharks.

Longleat

Longleat is an awe-inspiring example of Elizabethan architecture and one of the greatest houses in England. Still occupied by the eccentric 7th Marquess of Bath, Alexander Thynn, Longleat is open to the public, and well-worth the visit.

You can polish off the day with a trip to the nearby safari park; one of the best in the country. Love it or hate it, monkey drive-throughs are back for good at Longleat zoo, but if you’re worried about your car’s safety, you can travel along the bypass lane instead. Some less mischievous animals include lions, elephants, giraffes, rainbow lorikeets, and much, much more!

Adrenaline junkies can finish the day with a bang at the pulse-raising attractions such as the motion simulators – your kids may be too young to drive, but in the race car simulator, they can rally to victory on a high-speed course.
